The Clean Up Henderson Committee was initially organized several years ago to improve community appearance. While the City of Henderson has been supportive of the Committee’s efforts, it was not an official committee of the City. In an effort to help revitalize the Committee, City Council approved an Ordinance (Ordinance 11-10) on 14 February 2011 providing for incorporating the Clean Up Henderson Committee as a City Committee.
The purpose of the Clean Up Henderson Committee is to raise awareness in the community and keep attention on substandard property issues considered to be unacceptable; respect the environment, health and well-being of all citizens and neighborhoods; provide advice and input to City staff on matters of code compliance; and engage citizens and neighborhoods to become proactive and work in partnership with each other to improve neighborhoods.
Meeting Schedule and Location: The Committee meets monthly on the first Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m., City Operations Center, Beckford Drive.
Annual Budget: The Committee does not receive funding from the City of Henderson.
Application to Serve on Committee: Please click here to find the Application for Boards form. Please copy and send the completed form to Ms. Esther J. McCrackin, City Clerk, P. O. Box 1434, Henderson, NC 27536, or deliver it in person at City Hall, 134 Rose Avenue in downtown Henderson.
Membership and Terms of Office: The Committee is comprised of 9 voting members appointed by City Council for three year staggered terms. Since the Committee has been reorganized, initial terms will be three for one year, three for two years and three for three years. All terms after the initial appointments will be for three years. There are five ex-officio non-voting members.
