The staff of the Henderson Water Reclamation Facility also operates and maintains the 13 wastewater pump stations and 3 odor control stations located throughout Henderson and Vance County.
The pump stations pump wastewater from one point in the system to another and gravity collection lines ultimately transport the wastewater to the facility for final treatment. Each pump station is equipped with an audible and visual alarm to monitor for a station failure. There are signs posted at each station asking citizens to telephone if they hear or see an alarm. The stations are also connected to a telemetry system through the telephone lines that call directly to the facility if there is an alarm condition.
The odor control station at Cannady Street feeds a deodorizer into the air for odor control in the area of the station. The Redbud and Shank Street stations feed ferrous sulfate into the wastewater for odor control, sewer line corrosion control and removal of phosphorous.
The Pretreatment Program is administered at the Henderson Water Reclamation Facility. Currently there are three (3) industries and one (1) Grand Water Remediation site permitted under the Pretreatment Program.
