Human Relations Commission

The Henderson / Vance County Human Relations Commission (Commission)  is a joint City/County commission whose purpose is to encourage understanding and goodwill between all citizens; to identify concerns within the community and to promote peace, understanding, respect and goodwill and harmony among all citizens.

Meeting Schedule and Location:  The Commission meets regularly on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 134 Rose Avenue, in downtown Henderson.  The public is cordially invited to attend.

Annual Budget:  The City Council provides a small appropriation to the Commission during its annual budget process.

 Membership and Term of Appointment:  The Human Relations Commission is comprised of 20 members serving three (3)-year staggered terms.  The City and County each have 10 appointments.
