Optimist Club Names Lt. Chris Ball Officer of the Year

Congratulations go to Lt. Chris Ball for being selected as the Optimist Club Officer of the Year for the Henderson Police Department.

Within the last year, Lt. Ball has been responsible for the establishment and coordination of several department events and programs which have been designed to increase interaction between the Police Department, citizens, and citizen groups.

He was an integral part of the implementation of the “Walk the Beat” program in downtown Henderson, as well as the “Wellness Wednesday” programs hosted by the Police Department and the Henderson YMCA.

Lt. Ball works with Sergeant David Pitman each year in setting up and putting on the St. Baldrick’s Day event (raising funds to fight children’s cancer), Night Out Against Crime, COPS on Top (raising funds for Special Olympics), and he coordinated the new “Fish With a Cop” program.

He also volunteers extensively with local groups and is very active in the “KINDLE” program at his church, Clearview Baptist, here in Henderson.

He works with Retired Lieutenant Marshall Perry to maintain the files that demonstrate the agency’s compliance with over 400 standards to maintain Advanced Accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) as well as coordinating the Department’s Training Program.

In addition to these jobs, Lt. Ball also coordinates for the Department’s Hiring and Recruitment Program and is responsible for coordinating the background investigations of all applications for both sworn and non-sworn officers.

Lastly, Lt. Ball is a certified polygrapher and latent print examiner.
